Getting Ahead in the Valley is a community initiative offered at no cost to interested families who are ready to begin moving toward freedom from poverty.
Individuals and families self-select themselves to participate in a curriculum called Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin'-By World and create a future story for their family.
It is a multi-phased self-sufficiency program that supports low income individuals as they work to build resources and achieve goals towards stability.

This program is provided and funded by Penn State Extension and the Expanded Food & Nutrition Program.
Getting Ahead will help you with the resources you need to help yourself. But always know, they're here to give a Hand Up, not a Hand Out. Ultimately, you are your only obstacle.

I've learned to change my thinking, how to save money, and also how to eat right. I love, love, love, the program and Mrs. Rose. I would do it all over again. Best program ever.
